Jacques Cartier National Park and Chute de Montmorency

At the Air Bnb, getting ready for another active day. The kids wearing their matching hoodies and me wearing my warmer one ( for photo purposes).
Our second day in Quebec, we packed a picnic lunch and drove to the Jacques Cartier National Park. A bit of a drive, but worth it.
On arrival, we parked, gathered our gear and headed for the Cascades Trail, the one best fitting our mixed age group.

We got a few selfies in too with Kim taking this one.

The kids were often out in front

Another photo moment

Very tall old gnarly trees
The Cascades park proved a good match for us. There was uphill and downhill, around water and over rocks. At some points we had some light rain, but mostly we were protected by the tree canopy.

Finding the water, another good spot for photos
We had planned to have our picnic lunch outside at one of the tables near the beginning of the trail, but it started to rain quite heavily so we moved indoors to the facility that had a shop and picnic tables for anyone wishing to have their lunch indoors.
We gathered our picnic things, got a couple of souvenirs and were on our way again.

For my hoodie, proof I walked that whole Cascades trail

And a sticker for my car to show it went all the way to Quebec and back. Such lovely emblems for the national park.
Next to the chute de Montmorency. And what a grand site it was.

The falls, much different than Niagara Falls in Ontario

My daughter is also an avid photographer. Here I am again

Quebec people know who this fellow is
After the trek in the national part, I didn’t feel I could walk so many stairs up the side of the cliff by the falls. Kim was with me on that. So we took the easier way, except it was my first time on such a ride so I didn’t look down. While our hosts and the kids climbed stairs, we swayed up the side on the cable car.

Most of our party climbed the stairs up.

One going up and one coming down

Took this photo while going up. Could look out, but not down so much
It was a new experience for me riding on a cable car, and looking down once I was up there, just about as challenging. But I did it. A first time for some new activities including this holiday to Quebec.

Once we were up there, we saw lots of construction around this grand building… and a parking lot. I guess for those who cannot climb or don’t have the courage to take the cable car.

Extra riders coming back down
Our hosts and one of the kids took the stairs back down and so we met at the building entrance.
Soon we were on our way back to Lévis to our Air Bnb after a great outing. Another day in Quebec.
