Wednesday in Blue Rocks and Lunenburg
Our next stop was the lighthouse home owned by my hosts’ family members, Sandra and Mike. I had waited so long to see this place other than in photos. This day I’d actually see it in real life.

On Blue Rocks Road
I got the tour from the ground floor and up to each level. With a structure this large, it does take time to finish last details inside. Still incredible, and lots of stairs.
Because it’s a private home, I won’t show the inside of the building, but I will show a couple of views of the inside from those front windows. What I will say though, is that the building is impressive and beautiful.

From the top floor

When we determined where we’d have our supper, we headed out for Lunenburg.
We found the restaurant and had to wait for a table since there were six of us to eat together.

A familiar sight in the old town
While waiting outside, what should come around the corner but the horse and buggy, Trot in Time Carriage Tours, with interested tourists aboard. We had that ride once years ago, a historic tour of the old Lunenburg sites.
Our wait was not too long and we were called in and seated at a table that fit our group. I chose fish every chance I could get, and it was delicious!
Since there are ice cream lovers in our group, we stopped in at another little shop where they have homemade ice cream. I was able to treat my hosts for all they’ve been doing for me.

Tickets for tours on the water
We saw that the Bluenose was in port at the wharf and open for visitors to board. Sandra and I went on board.

Sandra got a few photos of me.

We noticed that the Lunenburg wharf was quite worn and uneven. I was so glad I had worn my walking shoes and not sandals. Weather worn would be what it’s called, for the wharf is made of wood, solid, but exposed to the elements of wind and salt and so it will show that wear after time.

The Picton Castle
Look, what else is here.
From Facebook:
The Barque Picton Castle is a 3-masted sail training ship best known for her international voyages.

Looking around from the wharf

Across the water is the golf course, and naturally other smaller boats on the water.
When we had meandered on the wharf and chatted, it was time to head back to Bridgewater. It had been a full day, and a very good one too.
Thanks to all my hosts that day. It was wonderful spending time with friends I don’t often get to see.
Travel with me on to the next days..
