A few more days of holidays
On these last days I took fewer photos; it just happened that way. I focused more on being with my friends which was important.
Thursday, we picked up Pastor Annette Smith and went out for lunch. Pastor Annette had been our retreat leader for Mount Zion Women’s Retreat for a number of years. She’d spent most of her ministry years in Ontario and a year ago was called to go back to her home province for a different ministry position, serving a number of small congregations in Lunenburg and Bridgewater area. I was looking forward to lunch with her as much as she was with us.
We enjoyed our lunch and leisurely visit in the dining room of the motel. It was good to see Pastor Annette and hear about her ministry. She asked questions about my book projects and how that was going.
Our days were a bit on the cool side, warmer in the middle of the day. We had sunshine most of those days. Closer to the water it would always be cooler.
Friday, our chauffeur David was up for another round of touring, this time mostly in Lunenburg. I had a piece of art to pick up at the Quartet Gallery, and so we started at one end of Lincoln Street and worked our way along the shops and galleries.

True to their word at the gallery, the art was set aside for me. Something I could fit into my suitcase that wouldn’t take up too much space, and a reminder of my east coast holiday. Maryann and David looked around the gallery while I took care of payment.
I showed them where Deb’s work hung and others that were eye-catching.

We wandered from one art space to the next, from gallery to gallery. We came to the place, Tall Ships Trading Company, that would have clothing with east coast and Lunenburg embroidery on it. What I was looking for. Not a hoodie this time, but a lovely fleece jacket from the Island Beach Company. And a crest to sew on my hoodie.

One of the galleries that David, Maryann and I looked at had many photos of water, waves and ocean that took much patience to photograph. One after another. Then back at his studio he chose the ones that worked best for a piece of art. Beautiful works but no more room on my walls (and a decision about spending on more art) unfortunately, for I would have loved to take home one of his photos too.
We had lunch out at a little restaurant. I had fish again for lunch. Couldn’t get enough of it.
More galleries and shops, including Tim McGuire’s studio, and not too much spending. Except at the Laurie Swim Gallery where I was amazed at her fabric art. I could have spent longer looking at it, but our chauffeur had about enough walking and had gone to get the car and pick us up. And so I bought the book about Laurie’s art to take home and learn more about her work.

If you ever have the chance to study her artwork, do so, because it’s incredible in the skill and use she makes of fabric and thread to speak about what’s going on in our world. It’s both natural and drawing the viewer’s eye to a different way of looking at situations, including ones that require action. Her book is amazing, both the photos of the art and the writer’s expression of her work.
That was our last stop in Lunenburg that day. I think we were all a bit weary by the time we headed back to Bridgewater. It had been a great day, spending time together, and for me, seeing new things.
We made plans for supper, relaxed in the evening and decided to do some laundry the next morning.
Come back again. One more day. I promise no laundry on line photos. 😉
